St. David's HealthCare Named A Top Workplace in 2010

St. David’s HealthCare has been named a Top Workplace in 2010 by the Austin American-Statesman in the large employers category—400 or more Austin-area employees. The ranking was based on employee surveys conducted by the Austin American-Statesman’s Top Workplaces project.

“Being named one of the ‘Top Workplaces’ reflects the commitment of St. David’s HealthCare’s staff, nurses, physicians, volunteers and administrators in providing an exceptional workplace environment for the entire St. David’s family,” Lisa Doyle, senior vice president of human resources at St. David’s HealthCare, said. “The collaborative environment noted in these surveys is part of our team culture, which enables us to provide high-quality patient care.”

The Top Workplaces list and rankings were based on anonymous employee surveys from 118 Austin-area employers. Employees rated their employers on issues such as leadership and direction, ethics and values, and how well employees are treated.

In the survey comments that were considered as part of the ranking process, employees of St. David’s HealthCare praised the company for listening to its employees and making them feel like they have a voice. One employee also noted the company’s belief in excellence and the privilege of working with people who strive to make a difference.

The Top Workplaces honor is among St. David’s HealthCare’s numerous awards for creating an optimum work environment. St. David’s HealthCare ranked as the top Austin-area employer among large companies in the Austin Business Journal’s annual “Best Places to Work” event in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2008, St. David’s HealthCare was named one of the “100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare. That same year, St. David’s HealthCare received the Texas Award for Performance Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by the State of Texas based on world-class quality measures.

The Austin American-Statesman partnered with WorkplaceDynamics to design and conduct the anonymous surveys. WorkplaceDynamics also analyzed the results and came up with the list of the top 75 employers in three categories—based on the number of employees.
