That's why every year more than a quarter of a million patients seek emergency care at St. David's HealthCare. All of our hospitals provide Emergency Services from board-certified physicians specializing in emergency medicine, with access to the latest life-saving technology and supported by highly trained nursing staff.
St. David's HealthCare hospitals are the only in Central Texas to receive full accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, the nation's premier organization focused on improv ing care for patients with acute coronary syndromes. With Chest Pain Centers at each facility, we can more rapidly assess and treat patients suffering from a cardiac emergency.
We also have a JCAHO-certified Primary Stroke Center at St. David's Medical Center, providing around-the-clock call coverage by neurologists and neurosurgeons, a dedicated unit for stroke patients with specially trained nursing and support staff, and quick access to labs, medications, and CT and MRI scans.
St. David's HealthCare offers expedited ER services for the treatment of less serious injuries and illnesses during peak hours, adding greater convenience to our emergency care. We also have four Urgent Care Clinics, in Round Rock, Pflugerville, Circle C and Kyle, for injuries or illnesses that require immediate attention, but not necessarily all the resources provided by a hospital emergency room.
For non-emergencies, your quality care is quicker–and closer–with St. David’s Urgent Care. St. David’s Urgent Care Clinics—in Circle C, Kyle, Pflugerville and Round Rock—are licensed as Type B Emergency Departments of the closest St. David’s HealthCare hospital.
St. David’s Urgent Care Clinics are staffed by board-certified emergency room physicians affiliated with St. David’s HealthCare, registered nurses and X-ray technicians.
Physicians and staff at the clinics provide care for patients with non-emergent conditions without the wait of a hospital emergency room.
Patients should be able to see a physician within 15 minutes of arrival, and will likely be discharged within one hour.
Because each St. David’s Urgent Care Clinic is an extension of a hospital emergency department, insurance companies reimburse for treatment as they would for emergency room care. At the time of treatment, patients pay an emergency room co-payment. Following treatment, patients will receive two bills—one from the facility and one from the treating physician—just as they would after treatment in a hospital.
