The state-of-the-art Emergency Department and Trauma Services at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center is equipped to provide advanced care to patients. Our professionals are here 24/7 every day of the year to provide advanced treatment for cerebrovascular accident (CVI) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center is conveniently located, providing quick access for Williamson County residents. The Emergency Department is noted for its processes and communication protocols developed in conjunction with Williamson County EMS. Through these procedures, EMS staff and hospital Emergency Department medical personnel maintain communication prior to the patient’s arrival, facilitating immediate treatment. These protocols are especially important in the treatment of stroke or heart attack.
Since it began serving Williamson County more than 25 years ago, St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has been the region’s leader in comprehensive medical care. A Certified Chest Pain Center, and Resuscitation Center of Excellence by the Austin/Travis County EMS, the hospital is in the process of attaining Primary Stroke Center certification.
When a stroke occurs, rapid medical intervention is a critical factor in assure the best outcome. With its state-of-the-art Emergency Department and Level II Trauma Center, St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center is equipped to provide advanced care to stroke patients 24/7 every day of the year.
EMS staff and the team at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center begin communications prior to the patient’s arrival. Because seconds matter, hospital treatment for stroke patients begins immediately upon arrival.
Acute Myocardial Infarction
During a heart attack, seconds count. The highly skilled team at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center outperforms national averages in the time required to treat patients suffering a cardiac emergency.
If the heart attack is a STEMI:
CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) has set a gold standard of 90 minutes for STEMI times (the time the patient arrives at the hospital until the time the vessel is successfully reopened). St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has far surpassed that 90 minute average every year since 2007. In 2009, our door-to-balloon time was below 60 minutes. These outstanding results are due to:
- Close collaboration and communication with EMS
- State-of-the-art cardiac emergency protocols
- Highly efficient mobilization of our cath teams (cardiologists, nurses, technicians and others)
St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center received the Gold Performance Award from the American Heart Association for its high standards of care for patients hospitalized with coronary artery disease.
St. David's Round Rock Medical Center also serves as the official health care provider for the Round Rock Express and provides emergency services at all home games. The “Express Zone,” located in the hospital's Emergency Department, consists of two Round Rock Express-themed exam rooms.
