The St. David’s Teen Summer Volunteer Program gives young adults a unique opportunity to gain experience in a healthcare setting while gaining personal satisfaction by helping others. High school students ages 15-18 are invited to participate in our summer program. Teens must be 15 by June 1, 2013. This is a hospital policy and we cannot make exceptions to this rule. The Summer Program is a 9 week program that will run from Monday, June 10th to Thursday, August 8th. Students must be available for 8 of the 9 weeks of the program.

We wish we were able to accept all students who are interested in volunteering. However, our summer program is limited to 50 students. Submission of an application does not guarantee placement.

We will begin accepting applications on Monday, March 18th. The application deadline is Friday, April 19th.

1. Apply: Applicants should complete the online application form. Once your application has been received, our office will contact you via email with the additional paperwork needed to complete your application.
2. Submit Additional Paperwork: Once your initial application has been received, our office will email you the additional paperwork needed to complete your application. Please ensure we have your correct email address on file. Additional paperwork will include:
1. Teen/Parent agreement form
2. Recommendation forms (2)
3. Essay
4. Immunization records
3. Interview: Interviews will be scheduled once all application materials have been received. The application deadline is Friday, April 19. The summer program is limited to 50 students. Submission of an application does not guarantee placement.
4. Orientation (by invitation only): Orientation will be held on Saturday, June 8th. This is a mandatory orientation and you must be able to attend. Details on orientation will be provided once accepted into the program.
5. Assignments:Teen volunteers are required to volunteer two shifts per week each lasting three hours. Shifts will be Monday-Thursday and students will be able to select morning or early afternoon time slots. Available shifts for summer teens will include: Volunteer Discharge Desk, Gift Shop, Aquatic Center, and Nursing Units.
