National recognition for excellence in maternity care received by St. David's Medical Center
Austin, Texas — St. David’s Medical Center, a Level IV Maternal Facility that provides the highest possible comprehensive care for pregnant and postpartum patients, was recently recognized among Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals for 2025. This is the third consecutive year for the hospital to receive this recognition.
St. David’s Medical Center provides a full spectrum of women’s services, including maternal-fetal medicine and a high-risk maternal and neonatal transport team. The facility also has the largest Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Central Texas.
“At St. David’s Medical Center, we offer the most comprehensive labor and delivery programs — caring for moms and babies at every stage of pregnancy and postpartum,” Todd Steward, chief executive officer of St. David’s Medical Center, said. “This recognition is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our physicians, nurses and staff to deliver the highest quality care for mothers and newborns every day.”
Newsweek partnered with statistics portal and industry ranking provider Statista for the fourth time to identify hospitals that provide the highest-quality maternity care from pregnancy through birth and postpartum. There were 444 hospitals in the country that made the list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2025, including 42 in Texas.
The ranking is based on three data sources: Results from a patient experience survey; hospital quality metrics relevant to maternity care; and a nationwide online survey of healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about maternity processes.
