Round Rock, Texas — St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has named Michael Lopez as its new chief nursing officer. As chief nursing officer, Lopez will oversee all nursing operations, lead clinical quality and patient safety initiatives, and support the hospital’s continued growth. He will assume his new role on May 4.
Lopez previously spent more than a decade with St. David’s HealthCare, serving as chief nursing officer at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital and Heart Hospital of Austin.
“Michael is an exceptional nurse leader with deep roots in our organization and a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care,” J.W. Newman, chief executive officer of St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, said. “We are pleased to welcome him back to Austin, and we’re confident his leadership will strengthen our nursing team and support the hospital’s continued growth as a leading provider of care in Williamson County.”
Lopez returns to Central Texas after serving as chief nursing officer at Medical City Dallas, a nearly 1,000-bed campus comprising multiple hospitals. In this role, he led nursing operations for several specialized facilities, including the Women’s Hospital with a Level IV maternal designation, the Heart and Spine Hospital, a Level III trauma center and nationally recognized bone marrow, kidney, liver and heart transplant programs.
Lopez earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in healthcare from Texas Women’s University.
