Austin, Texas — St. David’s North Austin Medical Center has named DeVry Anderson, M.D., as its new chief medical officer. Dr. Anderson assumed his new role — which includes oversight of clinical operations at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and St. David’s Surgical Hospital, a campus of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center — on Feb. 2.
Dr. Anderson most recently served as division chief medical officer for HCA Healthcare’s San Antonio Division, a role he held since June 2023. HCA Healthcare is St. David's HealthCare's national hospital operating partner. In that role, he had clinical oversight of Methodist Healthcare’s system of 13 hospitals and more than 4,000 physicians. During his time there, Dr. Anderson facilitated the launch of a graduate medical education (GME) program to train residents in general surgery and internal medicine.
Dr. Anderson previously served as the chief medical officer of St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.
“Dr. Anderson brings a strong understanding of the care we deliver across St. David’s HealthCare, including St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and St. David’s Surgical Hospital, as well as the clinical needs of our physicians and the patients we serve,” Jeremy Barclay, chief executive officer of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, said. “His leadership and clinical expertise will be critical as we continue to advance quality, strengthen collaboration and support the continued growth of this campus.”
As a retired U.S. Army Colonel and board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Anderson brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience, including serving as chief medical officer at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood. He also served multiple combat tours in Iraq as a command surgeon.
