Round Rock, Texas — St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center today announced a $27.7 million expansion, including the development of a new medical-surgical unit and the addition of a second electrophysiology lab, as part of its continued growth in Williamson County.
“This expansion will increase inpatient capacity and specialized cardiac services, allowing us to continue delivering the high-quality care patients have come to expect from St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center close to home,” JW Newman, chief executive officer of St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, said. “As our community continues to grow, these investments ensure we are prepared to meet the increasing healthcare needs of Round Rock and the surrounding region.”
In April, St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center will begin construction on its fourth floor — originally added as shell space in 2023 — to develop a new 34-bed medical-surgical unit. The $16.7 million buildout will increase the hospital’s total capacity from 209 beds to 243 beds upon completion. The hospital is also enhancing its cardiovascular services with the construction of a second $6.7 million electrophysiology (EP) lab, which will double the hospital’s capacity to diagnose and treat patients with heart rhythm disorders, also known as arrhythmias. Additionally, it will invest $4.3 million in facility infrastructure upgrades.
Construction of the new medical-surgical unit is expected to be complete in Q4 2026. Once open, the unit will provide care for patients with a range of acute medical conditions and post-surgical needs. Meanwhile, construction of the second EP lab is already underway, with operations expected to begin in Q4 2026.
