Round Rock, Texas — St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has been named a Leading Laboratory by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, making it the first lab in Texas to receive the prestigious national designation. The Leading Laboratories designation recognizes laboratories that demonstrate an exemplary focus on impacting quality patient outcomes. Only seven laboratories in the U.S. hold this three-year recognition.
“This recognition reaffirms the efforts of our laboratory team who play a critical role in improving patient care,” JW Newman, chief executive officer of St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, said. “Through timely, precise testing and diagnostics, every patient touchpoint depends on the quality of our lab services.”
To earn the distinction, the hospital underwent a rigorous review process evaluating evidence and metrics across four focus areas: quality outcomes, supporting professional development, cultivating trusted leadership and promoting laboratory visibility.
“The Leading Laboratories recognition elevates and distinguishes the discerning and empowering work laboratories do for patients every day,” E. Blair Holladay, PhD, MASCP, SCT(ASCP)CM, CEO of ASCP, said. “We congratulate St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center on their dedication to patient care and their commitment to raising the visibility of the laboratory as the foundation of healthcare.”
The Leading Laboratories recognition, developed and refined by laboratory leaders, is available to all accredited hospital-based laboratories. To learn more about the program, visit the Leading Laboratories website.
