Austin, Texas — St. David’s HealthCare announced today the start of construction on a full-service emergency center in Kyle, located at the intersection of FM 1626 and Market Place Avenue. Construction on the 13,000-square-foot facility is expected to be completed by early 2027. The $20.5-million emergency center marks the first phase of a proposed plan to bring a hospital to Kyle.
The emergency center will feature 12 exam rooms and advanced testing capabilities, including radiological testing and a medical lab.
“Hays County continues to experience tremendous growth, and many families in the Kyle area already rely on St. David’s HealthCare for high-quality care,” David Huffstutler, president and CEO of St. David’s HealthCare, said. “This new emergency center will help expand access to timely, high-quality emergency services closer to home while supporting the healthcare needs of this rapidly growing community.”
Once complete, St. David’s Emergency Center – Kyle will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as an extension of St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. The facility will be staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians affiliated with St. David’s HealthCare, as well as nurses trained in emergency care.
The emergency medical team will treat all urgent and life-threatening medical conditions, including:
- Abdominal pain
- Dehydration
- Head and spine injuries
- Heart attacks
- Orthopedic injuries
- Penetrating lacerations
- Respiratory distress
- Sports injuries
- Strokes
Patients requiring higher-acuity inpatient care will be transported to area hospitals, providing seamless access to St. David’s HealthCare facilities, specialists and surgical teams.
